Bra-Run I - 2006

The route left Bridgwater, going through:

My sister decided to do the "Aviva" weekend for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. This entailed walking 60 km over two days to raise money. The cost of entering the walk was £1500. How you raised the money to cover that cost was up to you.

Initially I was going to throw in a tenner to help out, but I wanted to do more. I have no skills as such, nothing I wanted to sell, so I came up with the idea of organising a ride-out.

The route started from Rider’s of Bridgwater and went down to Weymouth where we had a raffle in one of the car parks.

Bra-Run II - 2007

The route left Bridgwater, going through: Ilchester, Yeovil, Dorchester, Weymouth,

DaveBoy - Head of the pack

2007 saw another 20 or so rider’s join the ride-out, raising the collection figure substantially. Some riders took sponsorship forms into their workplace for families and friends.

Stopped for a brew

If you wish to do this, the forms can be obtained from either Breakthrough or myself. I was asked for 2008 if we could do something after the run.

Dressed for the occasion.

The Council at Weymouth are not very accommodating so the route had to be a circuit.

Amount raised by Bra-Run riders on the day, although the grand total including sposorship was over....

£720

Bra-Run III - 2008

The route left Bridgwater, going through:

Linda - One of the reasons why I keep doing this run. She's now in remission for the 2nd time

As Riders of Bridgwater didn’t open on Sundays, I approached V&J’s Superbikes with the view of using their grounds to organise the event. This not only got bikers into the shop with a view to maybe purchasing gear or even a bike, but it also enabled me to use their entertainments licence so we could have a band, and also their public liability insurance, as these two alone would have taken a big chuck of funds that were meant for Breakthrough. Unfortunately, the band split no more than 24hrs prior to them playing! The weather was a washout but I’m sure the die-hards still had fun!

Total raised from: The Riders, V&J's, My sisters work, and Mutts Nutts Mobile Dyno....

£1,259

Well done to all those that turned out in what started off as a murky, gloomy day. Many thanks from myself, and on behalf of Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Bra-Run IV - 2009

The route left Bridgwater, going through: Highbridge, Churchill, Burrington Combe, Cheddar Gorge, Wedmore, Mark, Woolavington and back to V&J's in Bridgwater for entertainment. The route was a little over 51 miles and there was a prize for best dressed rider and runner up.

This year has to date been the biggest turn out of riders for the Bra Run.

Cheddar Gorge

162 bikes rode from V&J’s, up to Churchill lights, down through Cheddar Gorge and back to where we started from via Wedmore.

The band – “Under One Sun ft Janey Summer”, were rocking and are highly recommended. The weather was brilliant and was a great all day event.
